Get yer Energy Medicine, here!

It was February of 1981. I was a 21-year-old, pregnant, Free-Spirit living with my partner, David, in a communal new-age mansion in Santa Barbara, California. David and I bartered with a woman named Kathy, so that we could attend her “University of Higher Consciousness Studies” classes. We learned about, experimented with, and practiced using Energy. We sounded ‘OM’ in various configurations, cleared ‘chits’ from auras, and created protective energy fields. Being a scientifically educated person, I was impressed, to put it mildly, with the results.

For years now, during meditation, I’ve seen a pulsing orb of purple-blue light in my third eye region. I have a vague recollection, from years and years ago, of reading on an herbal tea box that this was a coveted phenomenon called “the blue oyster”. During my first Reiki lesson, I was asked to meditate and wait for my ‘Reiki Master’ to appear. I waited and waited, until finally, I realized the ‘blue oyster’ orb I’d come to know and trust was my ‘master’ all along. Energy (I’ve come to realize) is energy, no matter what we call it.

About 10-months ago, I was introduced to Donna Eden’s 5-minute daily Energy Medicine routine. I committed to practicing it daily, for a month. It was so effective, I haven’t stopped! When stay-at-home measures began (due to the Covid-19 pandemic) - in early March - I began an online ‘Movement’ group and added Donna Eden’s routine into our mix. The class started out as more of a yoga-type warm up with some energy medicine thrown in now and then again. The participants loved the energy work so much, though, I switched my focus. The class is now an integrated body-mind-heart-spirit work-out (or, what I like to call ‘peace-in’), focusing on Energy.

The peace-in ‘Movement Group’ uses Donna Eden’s 5-minute routine as a base, and sprinkles lots of ‘Ami-speak’ throughout! This morning I video-taped the class (with no participants showing) and then created a ‘Waking Up with Ami’ video from it. I think the video came out great (even with Kenzie-cat climbing on my lap)!
